Short answers about storage, versions, agents, security and plans.

## Do files use space on my computer?

Only once you open them. They show their full size, then download on first open and stay cached. The cache can be cleared without losing anything that has synced.

## Can I work offline?

Yes, with files you've opened before. Saves are recorded on your computer first and upload when you're back online.

## How long are versions kept?

Every save is a new version and old versions are never overwritten. Restore any version from the dashboard (a file's **Versions**) or with `fyle restore`. Old versions count toward your storage; see [pricing](/pricing).

## What happens when two people save the same file?

The first save becomes the current version. The other is kept as a branch for review, with nothing lost and no "conflicted copy" files. See [Reviews](/docs/reviews).

## Can an agent overwrite my work?

Not if you run it through `fyle agent` or MCP. Its changes to files that moved on, or (by default) to files a person made, wait for a person to review. An agent started in the folder directly counts as you.

## Where are my files stored, and who can see them?

In Cloudflare R2 object storage, encrypted in transit and at rest (enterprises can bring their own bucket). File bytes go straight between your computer and storage, never through our servers. Access follows your organisation's roles. Details: [Security](/security) and [Trust](/trust).

## Is there a free plan?

No free plan or trial; you can cancel any time. When a subscription ends your files stay readable and downloadable for 30 days. See [pricing](/pricing) and [data retention](/legal/data-retention).

## How do I get help?

Email support@fyle.sh, or use [contact](/contact). For security issues: security@fyle.sh.
