Fyle vs LucidLink

LucidLink is a mature streaming drive with an MCP server in public beta, file locking and snapshots. It handles concurrent edits with locks. Fyle plans to let people and agents edit freely and turn stale saves into branches that a named person reviews.

Last checked: October 2026. Every LucidLink fact links to its source.

Fyle is in development. Built so far: accounts, organisations with roles, two-factor sign-in, organisation security policies, and device sign-in for the desktop app and CLI. The drive, agent sessions and review are planned and not available yet.

Where LucidLink is stronger

  • A mature, shipping streaming drive with an established brand.[2]
  • Agent access already shipped as an MCP server in public beta.[2]
  • File locking and snapshots, with long history on Enterprise.[2]
  • Entry price from $7/member/month.[1]

Where Fyle differs

  • Fyle plans no locks for agents: a stale save becomes a branch and nothing waits on a lock.
  • Fyle plans a named-reviewer step before an agent’s change lands on a person’s file.
  • Fyle plans to run agents in their own session folders, so each agent’s changes are recorded separately.

Which to choose

Choose LucidLink if

  • You need a proven streaming drive in production today.
  • Locking fits how your team already works, for example one editor per project file.
  • You want agent access over MCP now and can work with a beta.

Choose Fyle if

  • Several people and agents edit the same files and you would rather review than lock.
  • You need a record of which agent session changed which file.
  • You want each agent’s changes held in its own session and landed by policy, not written straight into shared files.

Questions

Does LucidLink support AI agents?

Yes. When we checked in October 2026, LucidLink had an MCP server in public beta that gives AI agents file access.

How does Fyle handle conflicts differently from LucidLink?

LucidLink uses file locking. Fyle plans optimistic writes: if a save is based on an older version, it becomes a branch and a named reviewer decides whether to keep the current version, take the branch or keep both.

Is Fyle available now?

Fyle is in development. Built so far: accounts, organisations with roles, two-factor sign-in, organisation security policies, and device sign-in for the desktop app and CLI. The drive, agent sessions and review are planned and not available yet.
