The filesystem for the agentic era
Fyle is a cloud drive that mounts like a local folder on Mac, Windows and Linux. Humans and AI agents work on the same files.
Files that don’t take up your disk
Your whole workspace, in Finder.

Review
Every agent change is reviewable before it lands
Most drives handle a clash with a conflicted copy, a lock, or by letting the last write win. Fyle keeps both versions and asks a person.
Start a session
Run
fyle agent claude(or any command). Fyle opens a session folder for that agent, tied to you, your device and the task. The agent works in its own copy
Unchanged files read straight through. Everything the agent writes is recorded in the session, not on the shared files.
Changes land by policy
When the session ends, changes to files nobody else touched apply. Anything that went stale, or touches paths your policy protects, becomes a branch.
A named person decides
The reviewer for that path keeps the current version, takes the branch, or keeps both. The decision is recorded with who, when and why.
Any app
Works in every app and with every agent
Fyle is a folder. Your design tools, spreadsheets, editors and terminal open files the way they always have; files download when you open them and stay cached on your device.
An agent is just a program in that folder: cd ~/Fyle/acme && claude works with no plugin. Remote agents can use the Fyle MCP server or CLI instead. Both go through the same permissions as people, with no privileged bypass.
~/Fyle/acme
- Desktop appsFinder, File Explorer and Linux mounts
- Coding agentsClaude Code, Codex or any CLI, in the folder
- Remote agentsMCP server and
fyleCLI, scoped per task
MCP tools include
- search_files
- read_file
- write_file
- get_version_history
- restore_version
Platforms
Native on Mac, Windows and Linux
Windows is a launch platform, not a later port. Settings live in the web dashboard; each desktop app stays small.
- macOS
- File Provider, so files live in Finder. Menu-bar app.
- Windows
- Cloud Files API, so files live in File Explorer. Tray app.
- Linux
- FUSE mount.
fyleCLI and a systemd user service.
Versions
Versions and audit you can actually use
Every saved version is kept, never overwritten, and records who made it: the person, the device, and the agent session if there was one. Restore any version.
- Every plan
- Version history with person, device and agent session. Restore.
- Team
- Agent activity: each session, the files it changed, and the reviews it caused.
- Enterprise
- Full audit log of writes, deletes, permission and policy changes, review decisions and sign-ins, with SIEM export and retention controls.

Residency
UK residency and your own storage
Lock a workspace to a region when you create it. The lock covers file content, metadata, search indexes, previews, caches, logs and backups, not only the bucket.
Bring any S3-compatible bucket: AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, Cloudflare R2, MinIO or Ceph. File bytes travel directly between your devices and your storage; Fyle’s servers coordinate but don’t relay them.
- Default storage
- Fyle-managed Cloudflare R2
- Your storage
- Any S3-compatible bucket, checked before activation
- UK-only
- Your UK bucket plus a UK-hosted Fyle coordinator
- Available on
- Enterprise. Smaller teams with a residency need: talk to us.
Enterprise
Built for organisations that run many agents
For AI labs and large engineering, design and media teams: a governed file layer for people and agents, on your storage and infrastructure.
- SSO (SAML) and SCIM provisioning
- Policies per person, device and agent, including which agents may write where
- Task-scoped, short-lived agent credentials
- Audit export to your SIEM, retention and legal hold
- Fyle-hosted dedicated, in your cloud, or on-premises
- Contracted support and service levels
- Personal
- For one person and their agents. 1 TB included.
- Team
- Shared workspaces, admin and agent activity. 1 TB per seat, from 2 seats.
- Enterprise
- Your storage, residency, SSO, audit export. Priced to your deployment.
Questions
Questions
What is Fyle?
Fyle is a cloud file system that mounts as an ordinary folder on macOS, Windows and Linux. Files download when you open them and stay cached. People, desktop apps and AI agents all work on the same files, and agent changes are reviewable before they land on a person’s file.
How do AI agents use Fyle?
The simplest way is to run the agent in the folder, for example cd ~/Fyle/project && claude. To keep its changes separate and reviewable, start it with fyle agent claude, which gives it its own session. Remote agents can use the Fyle MCP server or the fyle CLI. All of them use the same permissions as people.
What happens when an agent and a person change the same file?
Nothing is overwritten and nothing is lost. If the agent’s change was based on a version that has since changed, it becomes a branch. The reviewer for that path keeps the current version, takes the branch, or keeps both, and the decision is recorded.
Do I have to use agent sessions?
No. Writes made directly in the folder count as yours, the same as if you had saved the file. Sessions are how you keep an agent’s work separate and reviewable. Enterprise organisations can require them.
Which platforms does Fyle support?
macOS (in Finder via File Provider), Windows (in File Explorer via the Cloud Files API) and Linux (a FUSE mount with the fyle CLI). All three are launch platforms.
Where are my files stored?
By default in Fyle-managed Cloudflare R2. Enterprise customers can bring their own S3-compatible bucket and lock workspaces to a region; UK-only residency uses your UK bucket with a UK-hosted Fyle coordinator.
Is there a free plan?
No, and there is no trial. Personal and Team are paid from the start and you can cancel any time. Enterprise is priced to your deployment.
Can I use Fyle today?
Fyle is in development. You can create an account now; plans, features and dates may change before launch.
