Fyle vs Space
Space is the product closest to Fyle: a streaming desktop drive for people and agents, with versions and free forks, at the same headline price. The difference is in what happens when agents write. Fyle plans an MCP server, branch-on-conflict and a named human reviewer; at our last check Space had no MCP server and did not describe its conflict handling.
Last checked: October 2026. Every Space fact links to its source.
Fyle is in development. Built so far: accounts, organisations with roles, two-factor sign-in, organisation security policies, and device sign-in for the desktop app and CLI. The drive, agent sessions and review are planned and not available yet.

Where Space is stronger
Where Fyle differs
- Fyle plans an MCP server from the start, alongside agents working directly in the mounted folder.
- Fyle plans to make a stale save into a branch that a named person reviews, with the outcome written down rather than left to chance.
- Fyle plans Windows as a launch platform, not a later one.
- Fyle plans UK-only workspaces for customers who need them.
Which to choose
Choose Space if
- You need a streaming drive for people and agents now, not after a launch.
- Forking whole drives is central to how your agents work.
- You are on macOS or Linux and don’t need a UK region.
Choose Fyle if
- You want agent changes reviewed by a named person before they land on shared files.
- Your team works on Windows as well as macOS and Linux.
- You need UK data residency or expect to bring your own bucket.
Questions
How is Fyle different from Space?
Both are desktop drives for people and agents. Fyle’s focus is what happens when an agent writes: changes based on an old version become branches, and a named reviewer decides what lands. Fyle also plans an MCP server, Windows at launch and UK residency, which Space did not list when we checked in October 2026. Space is available today; Fyle is in development.
Are Fyle and Space the same price?
The headline prices are close. Space charges $15/month for 1 TB and $30/member on Teams. Fyle’s plans are on its pricing page; they are a draft and not on sale yet.
Is Fyle available now?
Fyle is in development. Built so far: accounts, organisations with roles, two-factor sign-in, organisation security policies, and device sign-in for the desktop app and CLI. The drive, agent sessions and review are planned and not available yet.
